County Value Finder: Cheapest Farmland by County
Every county ranked by farmland value per acre.
Inside one state, farmland can cost five times more in one county than in the next. The County Value Finder ranks every county in the states we cover by the average value of farmland per acre, from the USDA Census of Agriculture.
Pick a state to see the cheapest counties at the top, how each one compares with the state’s middle county, and how many acres of farmland it has. Type a county name to find it quickly.

Check a priceWhere these numbers come from
- Value per acre: average estimated market value of land and buildings per acre of farmland, by county, USDA 2022 Census of Agriculture, Table 8. It includes the houses and barns on farms, so it is not the price of a house lot, and it is from 2022. Use it to compare counties with each other, not as a price for a listing.
- State figures: USDA NASS Land Values 2026 Summary.
- Counties with very few farms, or near big cities, can show extreme values. We add more states as we cover them on the channel.
For comparison only. It is not an appraisal. A local appraiser or the county assessor can tell you what a specific parcel is worth.
Good to know
These are census values for farmland, including the buildings on farms. Use them to compare counties, not as the price of a specific listing.
